Help with new set top box...

Hopefully someone can answer, I'm stupid at these things & completely lost !

My old non HD set top box was connected to the input lnb in. A new HD box I bought has no such input. There's RF in, RF out, coaxial, HDMI & scart. Where the hell does the wire go now?!!
The lnb wire doesn't even fit in any of these new connections.

My Saorview goes through the TV, with the wire going to antenna in. There's also a DVD recorder which we never use, but I think was connected to the old box too via scart cable too. Not even sure if this makes a difference or not ?

Please help a lost soul ;)

Sounds like the new box is Saorview only.
'LNB in' is a connection from a satellite dish

Thanks for the response. It's supposed to pick up BBC HD etc, but now I've nowhere to put the "lnb in" as was in the old box. All I get is no signal on screen with the new box.
I have a dish already too. I was able to pick up non HD BBC with that no problems. But now there's different connections on the new box, I'm lost !!!

What's the name of the new box? Are you sure it's not some sort of cable tv box? or even an IPTV box?

What is the make and model, does it say Freesat (dish) or Freeview (aerial).

Sounds like a UK set top box for freeview possibly.
Have moved and got a dish ready to position but no satellite receiver box, the old one is scart only and missing a wall plug. Any recommendations for a good new(ER) one? Scuse me going off topic ...

I'm not even sure tbh. I bought from Amazon & will return.

I have seen similar ones there which have the " lnb in " port, & I will get one of those instead. The beauty of Amazon ;)

Can you at least post a link to the amazon page?

That's a Freeview box which is the UK equivalent to Saorview.
There is no option to connect a satellite dish to it.

As others have mentioned, you have a freeview box, which is the terrestrial (received using an aerial) service in the UK (our equivalent of Saorview).

What you need is a freesat box - that will connect to your satellite dish and give you BBC, ITV, etc.

Thanks everyone. I only realised once I tried to set it up. Back to Amazon it goes.

Can someone recommend a suitable cheapo box. The last non HD box I had worked great for over 10 years.

One of the cheapest I know

Good make and updates over broadband if you get that option.

It is not even that. It is a generic DVB-T2 HD box, non approved for Freeview. Amazon are LYING, not for the first time.
