Just in the process of getting garda vetted for a security license and I honestly don't even remember what I was in court for, it was around 2001, some drunk disorderly thing.
I'm not sure what to tell them on the form or how to find out about any offences I had

Section 4 Public Order Act 1994?

Possibly, I'm not sure to be honest and don't even know any dates or anything

Write to your local Superintendant asking for a copy of your previous convictions.

I called to go the garda barricks, said they don't give out that information anymore

Did you have any legal representation? If so, they should be able to help.

    I don't to be honest

If its only the one public order offence from 2001 its really low on the scale of severity and won't have any impact on your vetting. Just write "public order 2001 approx".

Yeah, I might just do that. I'm just making sure before I go and finish it you know. Cheers

I think you can ask them.for it under the data protection act...they even have a specific form for it.

I’d imagine if it’s the only offence and almost 17 years old you’ll get the licence.

I applied for and was refused a licence earlier this year.

My most recent conviction was in 2012 but i also have 2 others from 2010,2011.

As these are multiple convictions I have to be 7 years conviction free to be considered a fit and proper person.

Needless to say, the certification from the course lasts 3 years so by the time I would be fit and proper I’ll need to do the course again, which I don’t see myself doing.

The course I did was 2 nights a week for 8 weeks, the course is now 16 weeks long if I recall.

No it's still the same course, but I know it's changing again next year, more stuff being added to it
