    Hi,

Silly question. Is there a specific name to the thin ties one sees these days (I know they are around a bit now)

The ones a man would wear with a suit, just the thin ones.

Any idea where to pick one up in Galway?

I would call them skinny ties myself. Unless you're looking for something special you should be able to pick up in the likes of River Island, Topman, Jack Jones, Penneys.
