    A great score in fairness.

I'd like to give it a go - but not sure about 18 holes.

That was class. Loved the bunker shot!

I'd say about 9 over would be a fantastic score for 9.

Would like to give it a go.

    That was some stuff above.

Think it would be much easier on a links than a parkland with one club as the right aprons would help a lot.

It would be - a chip and run all day with a 7 iron.

With a bit of practice it is as good as a putt.

    Brilliant

It obviously is going to hamper a good pro/low handicapper. I think though for mid-higher handicappers, they could actually play a better round of golf than their normal. Something like the 7 iron will give you a lot more consistency and control, less likely to be finding as much trouble as with longer sticks.

We do something similar once a year where we have a competition with 3 clubs + putter. its good fun

This challenge around a lot of courses would really feel like a slog, but I think a 7 Iron around Corballis in particular would be plenty of fun.

Read an article on this just yesterday, must try it sometime.

I think I'm going to give it a go for 6 holes

you'd just get frustrated any longer

The key to it has to be "straight and out of trouble". Assuming you go with 6/7i, avoiding bunkers, flops, etc is a must.

Would probably take an 8-iron I think. Enough distance, but also just enough lob for the shorter shots.

don't think an 8 iron is enough

he used a 7 but hits a 7 as far as most hit a 6.

with a 6/7 you can hit most par 3s

with an 8 iron some even par 4s will be out of reach in 3 shots

I always thought if I were to do this, I would use a 6 iron. But having watched the video a 7 makes more sense for the short game mostly.

I think I'd struggle with the 120 yard shot.

Yes - this is the most interesting part - without loft you are gone if in rough for say a chip and run. Bunker etc.

I think 6 makes most sense - but if you have power as a pro would and Rick has savage power - he can go to a 7 making the shorter shots so much easier , green side , even a bunker shot.

I think I'll try 6 holes this week with a 6. You could play two balls so you don't look totally odd on the course - one ball regular play other ball a 6 - always declaring first ball on hole as the one club ball , to remove the practice shot cheating.

Genuinely a bogey would be a fantastic score. Rick's score above is a bit freaky and would have preferred to see a full video - to me he must have got up and down a freaky amount - just thinking the logical sequence of hole.

Or he was very forward / shorter course.

    so gave it a go.

I played two balls and wasn't playing that well with normal golf, 5 over for 8. Started double , double.

In fact I was ahead on the 1 club for a while - I used a 6 iron.

I did fairly well, but the putting was just a joke and you would want to practice it. I started trying to blade the putts , but this wasn't working as the spin on the ball makes pace very very hard. You genuinely would want to practice . I then tried moving ball back in stance and using full face delofted. The 2nd method was better for longer putts - blading ok for shorter ones.

In the end I was 9 over for 8 holes. I would have liked a par and had about 4/5 real chances for par , but couldn't putt to save my life for most of it.

I had 1 bunker shot and just open it up like crazy and sliced it out.

It was an interesting challenge, not sure it was enjoyable or in any way useful , I can see why he went for a 7 , far more enjoyable hitting chip and runs with a 7. A 6 is just a horrible shot. but the 6 is geeting you very near regulation on many holes. I was milling it with draw to help from tee.

I think I could get to about 5 over for 9.

But after that you are into actually practicing putting with an iron and not sure that is of any value.

I reached 2 greens in regulation - but I was about 40/50 yards short on others. It is a bit of a frustrating process and hitting 2 balls is probably making it a bit more annoying to be honest.

    Was that Annes or Corballis?

Only ever tried it once a few years ago on a short par4 (18th moor park) with a wedge. We both made par which we got a giggle out of.
