Analogue Ghosting Effect

Hi. I've noticed there's a lot of ghosting on the analogue channels on my new TV. It is there on others too but it's just extremely noticeable on the new TV. It's like a halo effect or more like seeing triple kind of effect on this new TV. It's a Panasonic 50EX700B. I doubt there's really anything you can do but by any chance is there anything that could filter out some of the ghosting or would that just make it worse? It's that bad on some channels that the watermark has a triple looking effect that's very noticeable. It has a fair bit of noise too especially noticeable on dark colours but that's just the way analogue is. It's mainly the ghosting effect that's getting to me as it makes it look awful.

Where are you getting the Analogue channels from?

What is the resolution of the channels?
Is the TV set up to correctly display that resolution?

It's just the basic VM 16 channels plugged directly into the TV tuner. The ghosting is always there but barely noticeable on other tv's compared to this one.

Have you tried adjusting the refresh rate and resolution of the TV?

I am not a VM customer so I don't get those analogue channels.

I don't think there's any options to do that but because it's PAL I think it's just 576i 50hz. I heard that on antenna if you get ghosting it's because you're getting the signal from more than one source but that's from back in the day before saorview. I'm not sure if the same would apply on analogue cable. It looks a lot better on the older LCD Tv's I have than it does on the new one but the new TV is 4k. I have a portable crt also that I can test it on but I think it basically looked perfect on crt due to their nature.

There must be adjustments you can make to the TV ...... check its menu ;)

I am not saying it will improve things but you should try.

Ghosting is caused by a second signal arriving a little later. Traditionally is is caused by reflections off buildings, hills etc. Obviously this cannot happen on cable. But a mismatched cable can cause reflections on the cable. Make sure your cables are properly made up. Bear in mind though the problem could be at the VM end. I doubt if there is much quality control on their analogue feeds these days.
