Ireland are playing their last match in the Intercontinental Cup over the next 4 days, against Scotland in Dubai.

We need to win and hope Afghanistan slip up to win the trophy.

Ireland were struggling in the first innings at 124-6, then 166-8, but some grit from Kevin O'Brien, Tim Murtagh and Peter Chase currently has us on 247-9.

Scotland 127/8 now - Ireland looking to claim the points for the first innings lead, to keep alive the almost-impossible hopes of taking the Cup.

All out for 141, a lead of 110. Good effort by the team.

Bat rest of today and until lunch tomorrow, then have a day & a half to bowl them out.

Probably won't be good enough but good to go out on a win,

Ireland close the day on 186/5, 295 runs ahead.

Don't think they'll bat too much longer tomorrow.

Two tickets gone straight after tea and it's 85/5.

Can Ireland get the job done with a day to spare?

    8 down now

    Ireland win by 203 runs.

Afghanistan need to beat the UAE tomorrow to deprive Ireland and win the Cup - UAE are currently on 172/2 needing to make 510 to make Afghanistan bat again. Our best hope there is for UAE to bat all day tomorrow - unlikely, but hope springs eternal!

    Ireland win!!

Chase with the final two wickets for the men in green. 4 wickets for him in Scotland's second innings.

Is this John Bracewell's final match as Ireland head coach? Really looking forward to see how new head coach Graham Ford gets on. He is promising attacking cricket from his charges. Test cricket becomes an reality next year for the boys in green. Here's hoping 2018 will be a very productive year for Irish cricket
