Dog parks or off leash areas to walk dogs in Derry/Inishowen?

We'll be spending Christmas/New year with family in Derry and Inishowen, as above, and I'm looking for places where we can walk a very active, friendly dog off leash. She doesn't run off, so it doesn't need to be closed in, and she's not at all aggressive, but she does tend to go up to greet strangers when off leash, so it needs to be somewhere she's allowed to be off leash so that people won't be complaining about the fact of her being off the leash at all.

We live out in the countryside, so she's not great with walks or even runs on a normal footpath with lots of cars passing, it stresses her out a bit, so I'd really like to know I could take her somewhere once a day where she could get a good run off leash. I don't mind taking the car for half an hour to get there (though it might not be every day in that case)

Is the beach at Fahan ok for dogs? Or anywhere else anyone knows of?
I thought of posting this in the Derry forum but decided to start here first.
    Thanks.

Bumping this thread up in case there's anyone around who knows the area.

Grew up in Inishowen - there's a lovely stretch of footpath along the seashore in Greencastle (starts from side of post office in village) and another one down the road in Moville (starts from pier). They're both off the road or close-ish to quiet roads so no problem with stressed dogs. Theres also a good beach in Greencastle known locally as 'Sweet Nellies' - a couple of kms from village just down the road from entrance to Greencastle Golf Club - plenty of space there for your dog to run. Not very familiar with Fahan so can't give advice there.

Thanks for that, Jenn. If the weather's halfway decent we may take a run down to Moville and see how that goes.

I'm still wondering whether any of the parks allow dogs off leash. I looked up Derry City Council about dogs but all I can see is warnings about how to keep your dog out of the dog pound. Not very dog friendly afaict.

Or the beaches in Donegal of course, if anyone knows. That'd be ideal.
