did something stupid with paint -

I needed to take down a number and I used the brush in my hand ( with satin paint ) to write it on the unpainted fresh plaster. Now that I am trying to paint the plaster.... the number seems to be showing through. Whats the fix ? more coats ? sanding ? thanks

I would suggest a sanding also, until the numbers aren't prominent any more
