Laws relating to cctv on buses and other transport in ireland

    Hi there just two quick questions about transportaion laws in ireland. Is it a legal requirement for public transport in ireland to have cctv in place and do these cctv cameras need to be working and maintained??

    No and no.

    It should be noted that Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann are required to have working CCTV as part of their PSO contracts with the NTA (not applicable to BE Expressway services as that is not PSO), but failure to do so is a matter between the operators and the NTA.

    It should be noted that even with a contract to have working cctv, the bus companies need to obey the law, which might preclude having working cctv, unless certain conditions are met.
