I had a minor accident this morning bumped a 131 e class e300, the rear bumper has some minor cracks, im not sure if its just the paint that cracked or the bumper itself. I was only going about 10kmph. Was wondering if the rear bumper needs to be replaced would anyone know what kind of money is this going to cost me.

The owner is entitled to get the car repaired to his satisfaction, where he wants (within reason). If the car needs a new bumper, fitted and painted you could be looking at €2-3k. It probably doesn't though. Minor paint repair could be around €300, full respray €700-800.

Someone ran into the back of my car earlier in the year, cracked the paint a bit. Said they'd cover it themselves, didn't want to go through insurance. I got a quote for €300 from a bumper repair place. The guy who hit me moaned at the cost, which I tried to keep as low as possible. I could have cost him €3k, but I decided I couldn't be bothered with the hassle. Have a couple of nice cracks in the paint of my bumper now. If it happens again I'm going through the insurance immediately.

Thanks, to my amateur eye it looked like paint cracked but am aware I am at the behest of other driver, I have a feeling he may want a new bumper. Was hoping it would be closer to the 1 to 1.5k mark.

If he brings it to a Mercedes main dealer there will be a sensor bracket damaged, which will entail the replacement of the entire bumper at a cost (including respraying, checking the ECU is OK etc.) of several thousand euros. If he goes to one of the smart repair guys it'll probably be a couple of hundred euros at most. Being honest, if I was him, I'd go to the main dealer, as he has a valuable asset to protect, and when he trades the Merc for a new model, and "non approved" repairs will be used as a stick to beat him with.
