    Hi All,

I need advise, I work for a multinational and my shares have matured, I now have to nominate a broker firm to transfer my shares to. The default one is Redmayne-Bentley, they charge 55 euro for inactive account, 25 euro for trades up to 2000 euro, 1.25 % for 2000 - 9000 euro and .50 % over 9000 euro.

Can anyone recommend a better priced broker ?

    Thanks so much.

    Hi,

It shouldn't just be about price mate, particularly if you want to do more than just sell your current shares and then close the account again....

DeGiro are considered a good budget service, but I would suggest that the online offering from some of the Irish brokers might be better and also, if something goes really wrong, it's a bit easier to turn up at the front door of an Irish broker than a Dutch one for example :)

    Thanks,

    G.

Hi sober question ....but if a stock broker went bust for whatever reason how much of a client's cash/portfolio is safe? 50k , 80k , less, more? I realise bank accounts are guaranteed up to 100k with Irish banks...i can't for the life of me find anything if you have monies with brokers like td warehouse, Davy.etc (assuming were talking crest accounts here)
    Any links, or info appreciated
