Saab 95, any reason not to buy one?

I'm looking for a large, comfortable, safe, automatic, petrol estate car with cruise control to do about 5k km per year, mostly urban driving but the odd motorway trip. A 2007/2008 Saab 95 seems to fit the bill, I think the engine sludge problems were solved by then but is there anything else I need to be aware of before going any further?

What are the "ethanol" engines like from that time? I know its nearly impossible to buy it anymore but some cars for sale are that model. Is it a reliable engine.

Whats the MPG likely to be in a 2l petrol auto estate around town/motorway, 25 and 40? Or am I being optimistic? Not too important with my mileage but good to know.

All told, they're great cars and unbelievable value! Obviously go out and test drive a couple and check they suit your needs.

Doing 5k km/year, I don't think I'd really be concerned with MPG but you should be able to average 30mpg if your driving is mostly suburban.

Around town about 13.5L/100km and on the open road at usual speed limits around 7.8-8L/100km. I used to average 10.9 over 10,000 kms, never spending any time time in traffic for the most part.

They are not great on consumption to be honest, but at low mileage it's all relative I suppose. Still loved my 95.

If your only doing around 100km a week then don't worry about MPG, a tank full will last you a month or more on urban driving alone.
