Hey, just want to get people's thoughts on the price of a Golf I am looking at. It's a 1.4 TSI [140] GT 5dr DSG 1395 cc, registered 2013 (December) with 19,176 miles on it. Has a FSH, has been inspected independently and no issues found.

The price is £14k pound. I can't find the exact model on the revenue site, the closest returns 2,333 euro. Whereas MotorCheck.ie says it'll be 2,723 euro, but it has some of the info wrong (says it's an estate and CO2 is 116, it's actually a hatchback at 110 CO2). I am factoring in another 500 - 1k for flights/ferry etc, so all in between 18-19k euro. I'm been told this is quite expensive for a 2013 car so just want to get others opinions. Thanks.

The ad isn't currently active so I can't link to it, but it comes with:
17" Dijon alloy wheels, 5.8" colour touch screen, Alcantara/cloth upholstery, Discover navigation + European map data, Driver's lumbar support, Front sport seats, Front/Rear parking sensors, ParkAssist or ParkPilot (the one where it steers the car into a parking spot), heated front seats, folding mirrors, Cruise Control & Automatic Distance control.

P.S. My milage will be less than 10k, hence the petrol. I am only really interested in the sports seats, folding mirrors and parking sensors. Sat Nav is nice, but I hear it isn't great on the golfs.

There were problems with 140/170 bhp tsi engines when they came out. 1.4 single turbo 122-125-150(act) bhp variations were the reliable ones as far as I remember. Are you sure it is 140 bhp ?

As sure as I can be, the ad says it is and the inspection never saw any discrepancies with it. The report includes the VIN but trying a bunch of sites and they all return different information for the same VIN (such as it's a Jetta instead of a Golf).

Would the 140 put you off?

It seems to be 140 bhp engine in that golf can be earlier version of ACT engines that are delivering 150 bhp now. Those should be ok.

Problematic ones I was referring were using a compressor+turbo setup and came out around 2006/7 and different variations were in use in scirocco, fabia vrs, polo gti. etc in recent days.

same question about engine below and answers from owners :
