Places to look for Flats in Dublin? Kinda close to Grand Canal Docks and Center

    Hi everyone,
    I will soon be moving from Germany to Ireland (Dublin). I will be receiving help from a relocation company, but they asked me for preferred places to look for a place. Can you locals recommend me some nice inexpensive areas in Dublin?
    I looked and searched around and as far as I can tell Ranelagh and Rathmines are rather close and not insanely expensive.
    Any other areas I should tell them to look at? Should be kind of close to work (Grand Canal Docks) and the city center for social stuff.
    Also, any areas I should absolutly avoid even though they are close?
