data plans for while away in China

    Relative going to china for couple of months. Has a sim free phone.

    Would anyone know if there any data plans that could provide reasonable priced internet data while they are there.
    Or would they have to buy a China sim and if so does anyone know of any good deals for this

    AFAIK you need a chinese SIM to get any service.

    They have two types, sims for locals (with ID Card) and sims for foreigners. Cant find the info I had before but if you search Tripadvisor all this ground has been covered already.



    Bare in mind that Chinese networks use a different band plan to western europe so not all phones will have complete compatibility. You need to check.
