Taking a TV in a taxi

This might be a silly question :)

I was thinking of taking advantage of the Black Friday sales and getting a medium sized (~43”) TV. I’ve no way of getting it home, though, and it’s not practical to wait at home for deliveries. Can you take something like this in a taxi? Is it something most taxi drivers would be okay with?

I'd imagine it would be fine if it doesn't block his rear window. Be prepared for a "well for some" comment though ;)

It's just a piece of luggage at the end of the day. If lads in saloons are a bit reluctant just pick an estate or people carrier, it'll fit easily.

    Put it in the boot.

Make sure you have it out of the boot before you pay driver.

Its standard enough, in the shop (Dixon/Currys) in Blanch centre they'll even ring for a taxi for you and your tv at the pay counter.
So the taxi driver who accepts the call knows theres a tv involved.

Nearly every taxi person I have met in Dublin is a good person - I would have no concerns of them driving off with my new tv

Accidents happen - people leave things behind in taxis all the time.

The best place to put a TV in virtually any car is in the footwell of the back seat. I can vouch for this; I used to do a lot of the taxi pick ups from the old Philips shop in Dame Street and this always worked nicely. Once sitting firmly on the floor the TV is fine.
