LG UH650V Freesat Tuning

Hi. The TV in my sittingroom has a satellite tuner. I tried to scan for channels today and it found about 500 which most of didn't work. So I tried rescanning with skip scrambled channels selected but it's missing a few channels and they're all over the place. I heard about chansort but when I try use it and use the reference list it's leaving out a few channels. Also the likes of Dave and itv hd and the sd channel 4 isn't there. Is there a way to make the reference list add channels that aren't there or is that only for sorting? Ideally I'd like to have the channels like sky but delete all the scrambled ones.

In my own room I'm using a sky+hd box and I don't mind but for my parents it'll be easier for them to have only the working channels there. Has anyone got an updated chansort file or a sorted tuned LG TV they can upload the file from?

First off you cannot inter exhange software from different model LG TV's. It would brick the TV!

But good news for you. You do not need chansort for that model LG. It comes with the Freesat EPG software.

Change your country to UK in the country settings and follow these instructions to get the firmware update.

You are missing more than a few. A full scan should have got you 954 channels and a Free scan 519. See if the menu will let you scan individual transponders. The two listed at the top of this link should give you all the Channel 4's and +1's.

I done the Freesat setting on UK and it got 169 channels it says. I noticed the music channel Kerrang isn't there but it works on my sky box upstairs. I'm not sure why but I just set the TV to Freesat and that's what it found

Yes there are other channels that are Free that do not appear in the Freesat channel list. They can be tuned in seperately.

Right so what I'll do is I'll manually add them channels by looking at the frequencies they're on. It's still a lot better that they're in the better order so far. I can just tune them separately and I'll put kerrang in beside the other music channels etc. All the main ones like itv, BBC, channel 4, e4 etc are all there for now anyway.

For anyone with an LG, does the freesat EPG work properly for you? 7 day programme listing etc?

I have an SJ800v and the EPG doesnt really work - no live preview which just says "download programme info" and issues selecting channels. Signal strength is 92% and quality is 100% so cant be that. TV seems to be up to date as well.

LG have been impossible to contact so far

Mine is working with it set to Freesat but live preview isn't working. It was working when I had it set to Ireland with the channels in the wrong order but no longer works with it set to Freesat. Not sure why.

I'm using the sky box in my room because the Panasonic doesn't have a satellite tuner but I might buy something better that's more customizable so I can delete the scrambled channels etc.

Try selecting a few channels from the listing on the left - After selecting one, on mine its no longer possible to select them and you have to go to programme, select mini menu, and then "watch". Series link recording also does not seem to work - not sure about non-series linked recording..I think it's an LG issue with freesat implementation but havent been able to get a hold of them

Yeah I have to go to the 3 lines to the right and press watch. Actually a bit annoying. Surely there's a better setup.

Hey count yourself lucky that you have an LG that has even the basics of Freesat software. You'll never have to re-tune at the very least.

LG promised to roll this out to all their TVs 2 years ago. It never happened.

So you'd have to use the chansort software otherwise and change it everytime stations move frequency etc.

Yeah like my ex700b doesn't have the tuner. I think I'll just go through that tv and tune in the extra couple that are missing. About mine though would I be better just keeping the sky box or is there any boxes you would recommend having instead. I heard about the combi boxes but haven't got a saorview antenna on the house just the satellite.

Ye, its not particularly that the preview doesnt work, its that I think theres an issue with recording as result which makes it unreliable. I've been using freetoair and recording all over the shop with no issues, so I'll trial some freesat again and see how it goes.

Hi, I bought an LG 32lj610v-zd TV at Christmas and have it set to freesat mode. Is there any way to add non freesat channels as Channel 4 HD is no longer available on freesat. Whenever I go into the settings I cannot get an option for manual tuning?
