Hello, everyone. I have just upgraded to a Vernee Apollo phone. I already have its predecessor, the Apollo Lite. The Lite phone is a good value and a good fit for me, and from what I can see the Apollo is even better. It is an Android 6.0 machine. Here are the full specs for those who are curious: https://www.pdevice.com/product/vernee-apollo-specs

I am an American expat married to an Irish man, and I went to Irish school this summer in Donegal. I had a lot of fun and I am serious about learning the language (I am, however, not one bit interested in arguments about why; I don't have a dog in any political party's hunt, as they say where I grew up).

While in Donegal, I picked up some language learning books with CDs, including all three volumes of Buntus Cainte. The CDs work like most language CDs; they have exercises where people speak and you listen, or they speak and you respond out loud. You will normally want to play short sections repeatedly and to quickly define and access the exact time or section you are wanting to play. You will want to pause and resume with a click, and to go back to the beginning of the selection with a click. It would be good to be able to "bookmark" places in the recording to refer back to, and it would be great to be able to record your own voice and compare it to the speaker in the lesson. You probably know what I'm on about here.

Most apps I've been looking at are pitched toward people wanting to play music, and that's fine; they are lovely for that. I have one of those that I'm not unhappy with, as a music player. But it is not suitable for playing precise selected bits of a recording over and over without fuss. It is quite possible I'm barking up the wrong tree altogether and there are apps dedicated to the purpose that I am not finding because I don't know where to look.

Does anyone here know of an app that fits what I need?

It would be best if the app is a one-time pay (as opposed to a membership plan, periodic fee, or in-app purchase model). Yes, I do know about things like the very good app Duolingo and it is not what I am asking about here. Thanks much, all.
