Quick question....when someone is claiming casual jobseekers (x and os ) and working part time , do they need to pay tax on that part time work. I presume they arent earning much if they are allowed jobseekers as well ??? Do they need to pay tax on 80 -100 euro a week ?

    Yes and no.
You need to declare it, fill out a self assessment form at the end of your tax year. But you may be under the tax threshold so not have to make a payment. I'm in the same situation, got paid €100 a week for 6 weeks. No tax will be due on it

To be honest I get my husband to sort it as he is self employed and all our income and accounts get bundled together. Yes, its revenue you declare it to....you are self employed for that small amount of work each week. Go to revenue.ie and set up an account and see if you can make the declaration there. It might be worth your while talking to an accountant if the casual work is regular. Or see if Citizens Information can help you.
