Transfer to another Gaelscoil

    Hi,

My son attends a Gaelscoil (Naíonáin Mhóra) in the Midlands and he loves it very much. My wife was recently offered a promotion in Dublin and we are exploring the idea of moving there. I've heard that a lot of Gaelscoils in Dublin have long enrolment queues but would the same apply for transferring students? Of course we have no idea where in Dublin yet we will end up, so it seems kind of pointless to contact schools directly at this stage.

    Thanks,

    Barry

It would depend on the class he would be entering having a space, obviously. A child may have left Naí. Mhóra , so you might be in luck. You've a better chance in getting a space in anything bar Naí Bheaga, so go n-éirí libh.

We’re looking along the Irish rail line to the west of the country in towards hueston since we will be heading back to the midlands at the weekend. But we are also looking in areas that are a reasonable commute to the city center.

You shouldn’t have an issue getting a child into a gaelscoil. Gaelscoileanna tend to lose a few students each year due to family moving etc. these new spaces aren’t always filled, particularly in the older classes. There are loads of Irish schools in West Dublin/ north Kildare....2 in Clondalkin, 2 in Lucan, 1 in Leixlip, Maynooth, KIlcock
