    Hi,

So I'm currently trying to sell my first car but seem to be struggling. Have it advertised on Carzone, Adverts, Donedeal as well as numerous buy and sell groups of Facebook. I am getting a good few messages about the car and about people coming to see it but have all turned out to be timewasters so far. The most annoying thing about it is not one person has even come to see the car yet!

Bought this car for €2200 this time last year and have it up for €900 which I thought was a very reasonable price due to the fact I am trying to sell it as soon as possible as I have a deposit on another car. Car needs absolutely nothing and is running like a dream. The ad can be seen here: http://www.adverts.ie/car/volkswagen/polo/2003-volkswagen-polo-1-4-tdi/14217540

First time ever attempting to sell a car so any tips on where I can improve the quality of the ad or with regards to the pricing would be a great help!

    Thanks in advance :)

To be honest I think you just paid far too much when you bought it. With the year and mileage you will be lucky to see 5-600 I think

Yeah I was thinking recently that the price I paid for it at the time was a bit much. I've seen the same models 02/03 with slightly less mileage (just under 200k) advertised for around the €1100 mark which is why I thought €900 would be reasonable.

I'll see over the weekend if it gets much interest and maybe drop the price then. Thanks for your help.

"Not one viewer yet! No timewasters please." As the opening to any ad will make me instantly not want to engage with you, it makes it seem like you have a bad attitude.

I'd take out the bit about the number plates, the ones on it aren't too gaudy but the way you fixate on them makes it all sound a bit boy racery.

The photos are ok but landscape ones would be better.

There's a nice bit of NCT left on it but that mileage is unattractive, realistically, even if it's driving ok. It's also 15 years old so apparently that makes it hard to insure now too.

If you want it to sell I'd readvertise at €750 and take any offer over €500.

Does it pass nct with the plates, they are like my plates but i always change to original for nct , might not bother next year if thats the case.

Put a bit more detail in the ad. Also use donedeal.
