Dirty fuel causing car to cut out?

My car (09 Kia Rio, diesel) has been cutting out 2 minutes after starting up, getting steadily worse for the last few weeks. The battery light comes on and the car just conks out as I am driving along.

Brought it to a Kia dealer and they changed the fuel filter and it didn’t fix it. Now they want to drain the fuel tank to see if it’s sucking in air somewhere. A guy in work said poor quality diesel could be clogging up the system- anyone else ever experienced this or could say if there’s any truth to it?? Feeling pretty pissed off right now either way!

I just happened upon this...... if you buy your fuel at a branded petrol station
    It’s not the fuel
If the fuel filter has just been changed
    I don’t know??!!?

Dirty fuel will not cause the battery light to come on, it's an indicator that the alternator is it's not generating power. If it's idling very poorly it might come on.
