Where to find rope ladder in Dublin

    I'm looking for a rope ladder. I want one that:

    • is about 4.5 metres long (about 15 feet);
    • has rungs made of wood or some other hard material, not rope;
    • has 2 sturdy hooks on the end.

    This isn't for outdoor activities; it's for attaching to a rafter in a garage (that's what the hooks are for), to gain access to a high, inaccessible ledge.

    Can anyone suggest a shop in Dublin that might stock a ladder like this?

    A metal ladder would do as well, but I'm hoping that a rope ladder would be a lot cheaper.

    Cavers use metal ladders made with wire fitted with metal rungs. Like these: http://www.caving-gear.co.uk/products_tn.asp?id=72

    Rope ladders - maybe try some ship chandlers.

    Consider building a wooden ladder instead - climbing a rope/wire ladder is not easy by any means. Would you be moving things to and from this ledge?

    Only small items — small enough to fit in a pocket.

    If it was me, I'd go for a wooden ladder. I've climbed plenty of caving ladders in my time!

    You need to anchor a rope ladder at the bottom otherwise it swings all over the place with your feet going out from underneath you.
