Was looking at 2016- 2017 second hand 30kwh nissan leaf @ auto trader.co.uk. Can someone guide me on how to say if the car is 30kwh and not 24kwh, when going for viewing?
Also, if buying from private seller, is there any way to confirm that the battery is owned as described by the seller and not a leased one? Does carrying out vehicle check bring out any battery lease information? thanks

A 24 kWh will display around 60 or 70 miles when fully charged. A 30 kWh will be more than 80. Check the mileage, as it’s late and my figures are going to be off a bit.

The car check will show if the battery is leased/flex, but I have heard of ex lease batteries still showing as flex on car checks, so the only way to check is with Nissan directly.

The only way to know if it's a 30kWh is by looking at the plate on the drivers door pillar. The 30kWh is slightly heavier than a 24kWh and the figure is on that plate.

    A 30kWh will show 1970kg vs 1945kg on a 24kWh.

my 24kw will often show 82 miles fully charged if i have been behaving in it prior to plugging in. It gave me an estimate of 159km last week after a particularly slow commute.

The weight must be the only reliable way?

    What about on logbook?
Would it say in the v5c that it's a 30kwh?

Don't know anything about the Leaf, but I do note a difference in the thickness of the charging cables on some models, is this nonsense on my part? One at a time please.

I’m not entirely sure, but maybe the thickness is down to the current it can handle? The standard cable for a Leaf would be a 16amp one, but there is upgraded version that can handle 32amp. Perhaps those are different thicknesses?
