Hi,

i use a card token pay as you go meter.  There is only one supplier in Mullingar - Tesco.  For the last 4 weeks Tesco has been rationing the cards to customers as their PayPoint machine has been broken.  They have kept all the prepay token customers payment cards in the shop.  It came to my notice this evening that none of the credit which has been paid is being applied to our electric ireland accounts as the paypoint machine is broken.  I was also informed that Tesco mullingar are down to their last 20 cards and do not know when they will get more.  When these are gone Mullingar prepay customers will run out of tokens to keep their meters running and will have no electricity in their homes through no fault of their own.  As there is no record of payment what will your action be? What is MOST pressing is that we are down to our last €6 credit on our machine!!!!!!!!

Hi Iomega Man,

We're sorry to read this.

With regards to the Token Meter, we can advise that this payment meter type is being phased out, and as such tokens have become more difficult to source.

We would recommend contacting the Electric Ireland Customer Service team in order to have the Token Meter removed and replaced with another meter type. They are available on 1850 372 372 from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday. They would be in the best position to assist you.

With regards to the credit from the tokens being applied to your Electric Ireland account, this cannot be completed if the Electric Ireland token card is not scanned at the time of purchase. However, we can look into adding this to your account, if you can provide us with the following details by private message:
• Your full name
• Your account number
• Your address
• Your contact number and date of birth
• Confirmation you are the account holder (Yes/No)
• The reference numbers of the tokens purchased
• The dates the tokens were purchased
We can then look into having those tokens added to your Electric Ireland account.

We hope this helps. Should you have any questions, please let us know.

Thanks,
Brige
