Yes you can cross. Salmon Weir Bridge

A bit shorter here crossing the square and fisheries field http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=7170383

    Hi guys

I have a meeting in NUIG but it will be tight enough timewise coming from the train, so am looking for the shortest route. Google maps recommends the following at 1.5km - is there really a place to cross the river on that route - there is no streetview and I can't see any bridge on teh satellite photo so I just want to make sure google has not lead me up the wrong path

    https://www.google.ie/maps/dir/53.2794665,-9.0612303/53.2732102,-9.0473746/@53.2763447,-9.0588895,16z/am=t/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!4m1!3e2

    Thanks guys!

Yeah, that's the quickest route. You'll cross the river using the Salmon Weir bridge and you'll cross the canal beside Fisheries Field using a relatively new bridge, hence it not being on Google Maps.

I presume your certain the location of your meeting is near the James Hardiman library?
NUIG campus is really a series of buildings spread around a central location.
The Cairnes building for example is a further 10 minutes walk.

    Just being cautious here.

Might it be worth getting a Coke bike?

    This too shall pass.

There's no path diagonally across Fisheries Field - it can be fairly wet and mucky at this time of year...
