    Hello,

We're looking at Avon Ri as a potential wedding venue and love most things about it, however we are worried about the size of the ballroom. The fantastic staff there assure us that the capacity is 160 and that this number would be comfortable, however having visited I feel that this would be a bit tight and would hate to pay lots of money to have the wedding there and be cramped.

Has anyone attended a wedding there? We will have up to 150 guests.

Hi! We got married in Avon Ri on the 1st of July this year and it was AMAZING!

We had 104 or 108 I think. We had top table of 12 across the stage, and various tables of 10/12 around the room. There was a LOT of space between our tables, and we certainly could have put two more on the dance floor increasing by 24 and if the high tables near the bar/kitchen entrance were removed you'd easily get 1-2 more tables there. Bear in mind that you may be inviting 150 but usually there's a 10% drop off, so you may have 135/140.

What I really liked about the venue was the use of both rooms so we didn't have to wait to have the room changed around between drinks reception/meal. We had drinks reception downstairs and photos by the lake, then guests upstairs for dinner while myself and my husband snuck off for a drink on our own.

We had our ceremony on site too. We were originally planning on an outdoor ceremony and it was all set up but it started to rain 10 minutes before it was due to start. Within minutes the staff had moved the bar guests inside from the smoking terrace and transformed it into a ceremony space for us, our guests said it just happened so quickly and in the end we were so much happier with the space we used there.

The food was exceptional and the wine was flowing well into the meal. The staff could not be more helpful. The accommodation in the bridal house was just amazing, I stayed the night before with my bridesmaids and got ready in the house, it was just perfection.

If you have any other questions about the venue or suppliers please feel free to message me, we absolutely had the best day ever 😊

Was at a wedding there very recently and it all seemed to be good. There weren't 160, and I can see why you think it would be a squeeze, but if the staff are assuring you it will be fine, I would go take what they say on board.

The one thing that was a little awkward (and this is personal opinion only): there were 12 people sitting at some tables, which made it difficult to talk to everyone who was at your table.

Also, the room is L shaped, which I don't like and think detracts from wedding. i prefer a room where you can see everyone and get a better sense of atmosphere.

But the food was good, although people going out to sit on the covered bar can take away from the reception - we missed the cake cutting because we went out for a smoke and didn't realise it was happening!

Best of luck with the wedding planning -we're getting married in November and trying to sort all the fine details now!!!
