I'm meeting some friends tomorrow night in town, would there be parking on Ormond quay at around half 6 - 7 if not is there somewhere nearby or am I better off getting the Luas in?

No idea, but if you live close to the Luas then it should be a easy decision.

Note that Thursday is late shopping, so it may be busy.

Car parks it the area: http://url.ie/120pa (press run if it doesn't work, may not work on an Apple phone).

Most of the quays are paid parking up until 7pm so at 7pm you won't have a hope... at 645pm there may be a few spots remaining as early parkers get in there, but hopefully at 615 - 630pm you'd be fine on Ormonde Quay anyway. Park and pay up until 7pm (check the signs) or park and cheap it out by waiting till 7pm.
