Feeding bales silage on slats

Any recommendations for feeding baled silage on Slats.
I was thinking about putting boards etc under a round feeder to feed silage on slats ad stop silage dropping down into slats.
Has anyone done this before and used something that stops silage being lost down into the tank?

I have a circular feeder in one of the pens. Nothing on the floor, works fine. Sometimes load it with two bales.

Be careful doing that, had a neighbour lose a cow a few years ago doing the same, they were eating away at the bottom bale and the top one fell down and trapped her head in the feeder.
