Am torn between a dell xps 13 and a Mac book pro, both are gorgeous machines.

    Only using it for
    Netflix/YouTube
    Emails
    Office

I know there's other brands that can do this for a lot less but I want:
    Something light.
    Well built.
    Good looking.
Will last 5-10 years ( I take really good care of my tech)
    Capable of the above.

Mac Book Pro without a doubt. I have mine since 2013 and never had one problem. It's light, well built (sturdy), easy to use and you can start working after 5 seconds you boot the thing up. My DELL took about 5 minutes to start up. MacBook have also flash storage, much better than the classic HD's where you have faulty sectors as soon the thing gets shaken a bit in the car. Dell xps is a brick in comparison with mac book pro or mac book air. Updates on Mac OS X are free, for a new Windows version you can open your pocket. Apple is a bit more expensive than most PC notebooks but I know why.
And no I'm not an apple fan-boy, I have used both for years and my choice would be clear.

the recent dell xps 13's are very good laptops and praised as probably the best pc ultrabook, as are macbooks good on the mac side. choose whatever you like of the two and whatever makes sense OS wise. make sure that you get the 8th gen intel cpu if you're going with the dell. i.e. 8250u for i5 or 8650u for i7 as they are 4-core chips whereas the older gens were 2-core. big perf upgrade.

Most of this is not true. Current gen XPS 13 is smaller then a 13 inch MBP, it's about the size of an 11 inch MacBook air. Flash storage only. Boots in a few seconds.

I use a MBP at work and an XPS 13 at home. OS choice is the only concern really, if you want windows the XPS is prob the best you can get.

Go have a look at both in the shop. Only way to decide.

Have you looked at the Razer blades, good saving on them with Amazon warehouse this weekend, 30 days to change your mind for any reason , you'd have this for the entry price of a Mac book Pro https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B06XK9R9WJ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511648480&sr=8-1&m=A2OAJ7377F756P&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=gtx+1060+laptop&dpPl=1&dpID=41OdaF8zvkL&ref=plSrch

I upgraded my mbp this time last year but went with a (dell) alienware 15 r3, they make a 13 inch version with an OLED screen.

Future proof wise extra graphics cards can be added to the Razer and Alienware. The mbp isn't at the races graphics wise if you ever want to use it for VR or any games in the future. (Any pc/laptop with an Nvidia gtx 10 series graphics card let's you stream to your TV, it's worth getting a laptop with one of those graphics cards what ever brand you choose)
