Injector wiring damaged

I was servicing a 2006 Opel Vivaro today. When I removed the airbox, I found all 4 injector wiring harnesses were damaged. See photos attached.

It looks like the damage happened because whoever had removed the airbox previously, did not fit the spacers/washers on the bolts for securing the airbox. The wires appear to have been crushed by the airbox and fried by the heat of the engine.

Amazingly the van is starting and driving OK with no warning lights on the dash.

I am going to look for replacement connectors from a breakers and repair each injector harness.

It's been like that a while. If the pins will remove from the connector you could shrink wrap the wires. They make one with a sealer iniside that will also seal. You'd have to check the temperature rating of the shrink wrap.

Replace the whole injector harness instead, can't be that hard get one

Yeah you will need to replace the whole harness, you wont get away with adding connectors or soldering an injector loom. It will cause issues either immediately or further down the line. They run a high voltage low amp firing pulse, not your typical 12v car circuit.

I agree that another harness is the way to go but the wires aren't broken just exposed so if another harness was difficult to come by you could just re-insulate the wires.

Some are fairly grim looking imo, only one or two injectors but the wire is about half as thick as it should be. I wouldnt be happy with anything but replacement. If it was caught 12 months ago, re insulating would probably be just fine.

I had to get an injector loom/harness for a VW Passat a couple of years ago, I kept disconnecting them spraying them with contact cleaner etc etc.. Problem kept reoccuring every 5,000 miles or so. Anyway I would have got a loom earlier if I had realised how cheap they are from dealer...
    Just sayin like :)
