Well lads, looking for a recommendation: my current ancient bale spike needs to be upgraded and a neighbour told me about these spikes that come with rollers that can be attached so the spike can be used as a bale handler in the summer.
Has anyone used one of these? Sounds like a great idea.
    Thanks
    Niall

The one here is what you are after. Used to see a few of them around when I was wrapping which is now about 18 years ago depressingly enough! They never seemed to take off for some reason. Don't know how effective or otherwise they were but someone here will surely know!

I have one like that with the paddles but made by Daltons eng, the corries, carlow.
Have mine about 15 years now.
Yes they're a fairly good handler and if you're anyways competant on the tractor you shouldn't burst any bales.
Got a hydraulic toplink a few years ago and it transformed the handler.
Handy to have if you just want to move one freshly wrapped bale on the back of the tractor or to use the bale as a counterweight on the back. I have never taken off the paddles to use the spikes since I bought it (I have the front loader for the winter though).
