Changing Name

    I am moving into a house shortly and will be putting the electric ireland bill in my name. Roughly how long does the process of changing the name take?

    Hi there, 

    Thank you for getting in touch. 

    It is not possible to change the name on ac account, however you can simply open a new account in your own name. 

    This is usually a very straightforward process. You will need to provide us with your MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number - can be obtained from your landlord or a letting agent) and a meter reading from the day you moved in. 

    If the property is currently registered with another provider, you will need an up-to-date meter reading as it is not possible to backdate the registration when switching providers. 

    The registration can be done on a quick phone call to our colleagues on 1850 372 372 or by emailing service@electricireland.ie.
