Quick toll system

Ok, I am just wondering is this starting to annoy other people. I spend circa 200 quid per month on tolls. All of this on my EasyTrip account.

In the last 6 months or so the fast toll is getting progressively worse. Again today the back log at the Port tunnels was long. Also once I finally got to the toll it would not accept my tag. This seemed to happen to every 3rd car. I waited at end of toll to make sure other cars in front went through ok, but of course once mine did not flash the person behind me was right behind me. So I had to get out of car.

This is just one occasion but same thing most morning. Also the M3 motorway ones are constantly at it. I have rang Easytrip and made 100% the little scanner is in the right spot. I have similar problems on second car

Is it the back end system is not fit for purpose? or have they not replaced the units on the toll itself? or why has this system gone so bad?

Its proximity RF, if traffic is bad discerning between cars is probably difficult. If the traffic is free flowing do you have the same issue?

I find at the port tunnel I need to get right up close to the barrier before the tag reads.

Yes that is the problem, you need to, but if the driver behind doesn't hold back you are stuck as the intercom button is back. I always hold back at the start and make sure drivers gets past barrier and then move onwards.

Other drivers seem to think if they keep right on your ar*e they will get to destination in 30 mins quicker....

M3 motorway for one is shocking, at weekend I was doing 20kmph and not a car in site and it didn't work in quick lane or even when I went into normal lane, lucky I know it is terrible so I had change with me.....

How old is the tag? I had problems with one not registering on the M50, and also very slow at some of the other tolls, and eventually, it wasn't recognised at a toll on the M1 at Duleek, when I spoke to the support team, they sent out a FOC replacement, the issue is that the internal battery has a limited life, and once it goes below a certain voltage, the range gets lower, and then also become slower as well. There's no indication of the failure, and eventually, they just die completely.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Sorry I meant to say, I got it replaced about 3 months ago. I done both cars as older ones seem to have more issues.

I am wondering is it up to the toll provider to maintain the scanner on the toll or to the providers?
