Anyone here know if it would be better to buy a belkin transmitter or get an aux jack wired to the car so we could use phone/ ipods to play music instead of cd's only? Cheers.

    It's up to you OP.
I have used a FM transmitter for yonks and have had no issues at all.
If you prefer a "prettier" solution then aux might be better.

Can you connect with Bluetooth and A2DP?

IMO those transmitters are a waste of money, I've had a couple and none worked well. You need to find a frequency where no radio station is transmitting and the available range is quite limited on the transmitter. Plus you'll need to plug the transmitter into the cigarette lighter for power so not the neatest solution.
I'd go for a AUX jack, just be aware that on some AUX jacks you'll need to turn the volume way up on your phone/iPod and radio before you can hear it.
Can't suggest one for your car as I drive a Pug. but i've seen good reviews of the Dension ones but maybe a bit expensive.

You could always replace the stereo with aftermarket. That way you will get BT for phone and iPod control through your stereo.

True, you can change stereo for an Aldi/Lidl with A2DP
With A2DP you can control the music using the phone, skip forward etc

I would go with a branded unit. Not much difference in price to the budget units. Difference is a branded unit can be integrated to the steering wheel controls and it will control an ipod directly, no fumbling whilst driving. If you do have steering wheel control this will then change tracks etc.

Another option is a "Dension Gateway" (used to be called "ice links"). A little box, that plugs in to the CD changer input of your car stereo (assuming it has this), and offers input for aux and USB (mass storage or ipod control). If you have steering wheel controls you can use them, as your stereo will just think there's a CD changer hooked up now.

Just throwing this in, it's not much cheaper than a low range stereo, and has a few other drawbacks, but if you're after a simple solution that works with minimum hassle, or don't want/cant exchange your stereo, it's worth a look.

I had this for a few years on a previous car because I didn't want to exchange the entire stereo (temperature display, mpg and clock was in the stereo, and I didn't want to lose that).
