There was really a time when stuff was built to last!

An elderly couple are getting rid of household appliances they bought more than 50 years ago.
Sydney Saunders, 83, and wife Rachel, 81, from Exeter, have a tumble dryer, water boiler, cooker and washing machine, all in recent working order.
They bought some of the items when they got married in 1956 and have been using most of them since.
We'll be lucky if some of the crap made these days lasts five years let alone over 50 years

At their time of life this feels like a bad move, I'm sure there are old school DIY types who can keep them going.

Ha, I'd like to see a Servis washing machine nowadays last that long!

nice find dolanbaker, I remember those from my youth as there was a few still on the go when I started in the trade, that w/m was the deluxe model with power wringer and extra big drum, that couple must have treated it very gently because if they were worked hard the shaft seal wore and let hot water down into the gearbox which then made a right mess with water and oil mixed which leaked out onto the base of the machine, they were made by a company named Wilkins and Mitchell. Maybe we should get a thread going as to how old is your oldest elec appliance as my next door neighbours have a GEC fridge made in Dunleer and in constant working order since 1968 without a breakdown
