Same cost to heat 5 rads as 10 rads?

Hi, I've recently moved into an old house and there is zoned heating installed. The house has 5 radiators in total- bedroom 1, 2, bathroom, kitchen, sitting room. It uses oil central heating. I find the house pretty cold, and my last house had the same zoned heating wall panel and I would only have that on for 1 hour in the morning and 1 in the evening.

In this new (old) house, I had it on for 3 hours in a row last night and I barely felt any warmth. What I'm wondering is, am I using less oil to heat up 5 radiators compared with my last 10 rad house? Or can I leave it on for longer cos this house has less radiators?

    Thanks in advance

If the boiler is properly serviced, then it would cost almost twice as much to heat twice as many rads.

What type of boiler ? Are the rads hot all over (esp. top and bottom center) after let’s say 30 minuets?

if you have a good and serviced burner then 10 rads will burn twice as much oil as 5 rads in an hour

if you run the boiler on a timer you will use less oil but wont heat the house as much

if you run through a stat then it wont use any less oil because it will have to run twice as long to get the same heat.

I would run all the rads together . at least you will get even heat.
zoning only works if the heat cant move from one zone to the others easily

I would think the difference may be due to insulation rather than rads (assuming the rads are getting hot.
