    Hi all

The main key for my Honda has broken in too essentially the part at the base of the fob where the metal shaft of the key slits into the fob has come off.

The controls in the jet still work fine and I can slit it back together.

Would it be ok to superglue it back together?

Can you take a picture of it? If the entire key shaft is complete and not broken at the base of the fob then you should be able to glue it back together but if the key shaft is broken and you mean glue it back to the other part of the shaft then no, glue won’t hold it together.

Here’s some pics of my spare civic key, far as I know they’re the same apart from the boot button.

You can see the screw that holds the casing together is threaded into the key blade itself. What’s yours doing?

Just go to a lock Smith, lock doctor or auto key, they will cut the key and clone the chip on it

You won't need to clone the chip its part of the remote block, just buy a spare case and transfer the blade and the remote unit.
They are cheap if its just the case :

Thanks for that I'll give that a try. I'll give autokey a shout as well as I need a new spare

Any idea how much they charge for a key with the remote unit?

I had the key for my Civic break at the screw, just buy a new key, put the old immobiliser and button module into it, and get a locksmith to cut you the blade to the old one. Cost me about a fiver for the key and a tenner for cutting it.

    Not Your Ornery Onager

If glueing, use epoxy resin, not super glue. Much stronger.

Honda want over 300 for the key, I got mine from a guy on Ebay for 45 stg I think, I got it cut at a locksmith for 20 I think and Honda programmed it for me with their HDS software for another 40 or 50 I think. Its working well, I use it every day. I'll find the ebay guys address,They are specific chips some use 8E and some use another frequency. edit 36.50 stg.
I have pm'ed you his email.
