Council mortgages

    Hi,

I am just enquiring. We are highly considering in getting a mortgage with our local Coco.
We have looked in our area and nothing seems to be appealing to us. If we decide to build, will the council help with the cost of a site through our mortgage or do we need to have our own site.
We have seen one going for very reasonable money with F.P.P through the council that we intend on getting the mortgage with.
    Thanks 😊

    Elaine,
    Go talk to the council.
I’m not aware of any council mortgage that’s allows you build your own house.

Yes they certainly allow self building. I deal with them all the time. Unfortunately, the ones Ive dealt with were all on family lands so your query didnt arise.
Generally, the build goes similar to any bank financed house. The only difference for my side being supervising Engineer is that the council send there own engineer each time they receive my stage payment request to inspect the work.
