Squeaky gas meter

My external gas meter makes a creaking sound which is quite noticable as I'm in a quiet neighbourhood.

How likely would it be for Bord Gais to service it, or is it something I can do by hiring a tradesman?

Gas Networks Ireland are responsible for any issues with Gas Meters, ph. 1850-200694 (press 1 then press 1 again and explain it to them.

Out of curiosity would a faulty gas meter register an incorrect usage reading as well?

I think the Gas company is on a program to replace all mechanical meters with new electronic meters. You will probably be getting a new metre installed, soon.

Yes it is possible fo a meter to record incorrect usage, if there was a bill query 9with merit) they would take the meter and have is verified in their lab

I assume they'd replace the meter with a new one in this scenario too, rather than leave me without gas while my meter was at the lab

Got in contact with them and they said they'll schedule someone to come over and upgrade the meter, plus confirm everything working perfectly.
