How can I prove that I worked?

I have worked in the Public and Private sectors in my career and am trying to establish my years of service in the public sector that qualify towards my pension. TIn the mid eighties, I worked for around eight months in a town council that no longer exists. They were subsumed into a county council who have no record of my employment. I can get records of my annual taxes paid during calendar years around that period but that will not show whether it was in the public or private sector that I worked, the number of months that I worked in the Public Sector or if I made contributions towards my pension. I know it is a long shot but I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

He’s looking for advice about his pension. Op are you sure the tax wouldn’t be conclusive.

Not sure if it will show what months I worked in the Public Sector as I would have worked in both the private sector and public sector in the same calendar year.

you could try rev, see if they have a record of how your tax credits were broken down, who and how much er prsi was paid. i suspect the records will be gone by now though. could you get old bank statements, and hope the description gives the name of the employer?

Don't the public sector pay different tax classes, or is it PRSI? There should be a record of type of tax that you paid.

Pris but asking for a copy of your pris record will tell how many contributions and what classes they were a at in each year.

Never thought of bank statements. Worth a shot, cheers

Perhaps it would be worth consulting the Pensions Authority?
