Instax or Printer

    Hi folks,

My wife has been taken in by the Instax ads on TV and has expressed an interest in them, it looks like they are going to be slashed for black Friday. However, the reason for it is that we have a 6 month old child and she loves the idea of being able to take photos and give them quickly to the grandparents etc if we are out and about - my concern with this is in the world where we have become so used to saying 'go again, no one more time, yeah that's lovely' with an iPhone, would a printer not be better?

Anybody got any suggestions or feedback on a portable polaroid style printer so we can print off iphone or digital camera instead?

I'm no expert on instax, but printers are something to be careful with for photos.
Most printers use dye-based inks that fade in just a few years.
You can get printers that user pigment-based inks that won't.

If you're concerned about print longevity, you should check if the instax is using a photochemical process (like a Polaroid), ink based, and if so dye or pigment, or dye sublimation.
Pigment inks will last the longest.
Photochemical or dye sub will be in the middle, and dye based inks by far the fastest fading.
Dye sub looks a little strange from some angles.

    Instax is great
The pictures look better out of the instax, then out of the little printer printer you can attach to pc. We have both

The instax pics are little treasures. Such a charm to them, and they look great displayed in different ways.

Handy camera to carry around and it can take a knock or two
Great to be able to give a pic to a friend/family member immediately

Also makes you think about the pic a bit more before you take it. Which puts the fun back into taking a pic

4K camera in iPhone, whatever. We used our instax and iPhone on our honeymoon. The instax beat every single one of the iPhone pics
