Kerosene shut off valve

I was told once there is no such thing as a stupid question , which way is the way the handle should be facing to allow kerosene to flow through the valve? red or yellow line? https://imgur.com/a/CDqEb

Red is on and the kero flows. The easiest way to remember is, the the lever should be parallel to the pipe (assuming no bends) to be open.
