    Hi,

I have a few of these TOWER trvs in my house. Other types also here.

Anyway how do I take the head off one of them, if only to check the pin or if needs be replace.

    Have attached two pics..

Unlike say Myson 2way there seems to be no piece that just twists off..

    All help appreciated
    Rgds,
    J

Turn this piece anticlockwise. It may help to have the trv on fully first.

No. No water there. Just the pin for the valve.

Thanks, got that ofd. Looked ok. Ended up being lockshield was closed. I opened and have heat but its leaking..

Any idea what to tighten. Leaking out of "pin" at top..

    “Spindle”
I have repaired them by using a piece of rolled ptfe tape and wrapping it -like a broken O ring- around the spindle under the nut.
Before trying that see if you can tighten that nut a little,...without breaking anything. If you haven’t a feel for such things get in a plumber or handyman.

If you are going at any such jobs, always know how to turn off the water if anything goes pear shaped. Too late to be looking when water is pissing out.

ptfe tape seemed to work. Heat back on in there now and no water coming out, albeit when I put it on the "off" setting on the trv it still heats up. Any ideas on that. I took off the trv and the pin underneath, I was able to push it up and down so it doesnt seem to be stuck.

TRV might be faulty. if you have a similar one, swap heads around to see if it still doesn't work. That way you will know whether its the head of the valve.
