Fiesta Ecoboost, P006A fault code

    Hi All

I have a fiesta ecoboost 125hp giving the fault code P006A "MAP- Mass or volume air flow correlation"
    (using forscan)
Car is down on power and after a couple of minutes of driving the spanner will appear and i can read the above fault code with forscan from the PCM.

Luckily we have 2 fiestas with the same engine in the household so i swapped the Maf & map on both cars and the problem still persists.

Ive checked the intercooler hoses and they all seem tight, Car only has 10,000km on it and just out of warranty

    any ideas would be appreciated

Have you any sort of non standard air filter or intake on it?

Thanks for your reply, no all standard, no modifications.

If the maf was knackered it would barely rev.
Does it rev freely when driving?
If you've swapped them over then id focus more on a leak somewhere.
Even the smallest of holes can cause annoying issues.

Cheers , yes im leaning towards the same myself. Next week I'll remove and check all the hoses.
Bound to be something silly like that.

At the moment it drives fine just slower without the extra boost from the turbo

Must be an air leak if the fault reappeared when you changed the MAF. Can't think of any other reason. Apparently it's quite a common fault for the Ecoboost engine, though.

Have you tried the MAF from the faulty car in the car that's working OK?

Is the other Fiesta also a 123 bhp model, or a different bhp rating? A lower horsepower car may have a different MAF and that would mean it will cause the MIL to come on in your car.

The other fiesta is actually the 110ho but the part number on the maf and map are the same
On my next day off I think I'll remove all the boost pipes one by one , inspect for any pin holes and replace all the factory clips with jubilee clips .
I've had a similar issue with jtd engines but the big cloud of black smoke is normally the give away that its the boost pipes :D

Is it still under warranty? Why not have Ford fix it if so?

I'm sorry to hijack this thread but i have a qui question for OP if at all possible. I was looking at a fiesta ecoboost myself and would like to know if you find the 125bhp one much more enjoyable than the 110? Put it differently, are the extra 15hp noticeable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 697 ✭✭✭Alfagtamini

    Hi
To be honest the 110hp one is plenty fast.
Wife drives it, I have a 159 2.4jtdm and even when I get into it ,it's powerful enough and has surprisingly good handling.
It's for sale at a very good price if your
interested !!! Over a years nct ,zetec spec in black.
Has been bullet proof since we have had it.

You can start from where the mas sensor is and go towards the engine. No point checking anything between the sensor and air filter.

Does it have air temperature sensor?

It does I think and seems to read normal on forscan
That's the plan , going to start at the joint at the maf and work all the way around the block to the map, into the turbo , intercooler and into the inlet.

I'm off again on Tuesday so providing it's dry that's the plan !!

How does the MAF read on the scanner? Do the values look sane? There might be an electrical issue with the plug/wire as well.

Very good idea but Funnily enough I checked that yesterday
Values are comparable to the other fiesta,

So today i said id tackle this job.

Removed the turbo recirc valve (looked fine)

Removed all intake pipes and they are were fine

Removed and inspected the intercooler (fine)

Just as i was about to give up hope and book it into ford i found this (see attached)

Its the hard plastic pipe that comes out of the turbo and has a 90 degree bend.

I assume this is the issue, im waiting for the wife to get home to swap the parts over.

Part number is 1868114 and its only sold with the lower intercooler hose. €101 plus vat from ford. there are stainless steel ones available to ebay for £50 ish.

rang around all the local ones (within 1 hour drive) no luck

There are two in Monaghan (Sraghdismantlers - 0429748300) and two in Dublin (Duffy bros salvage 014604763)

That will be your issue alright. Id recommend a stainless one if you can wait for it, the plastic are well known to crack unfortunately. Wouldnt consider second hand unless you are stuck, it will crack again.

I'd be looking at a powershift automatic, and probably not before next year. Thanks though ;) and best of luck with the sale.
Hope you get yours sorted with the new part.

Likewise to you, UK is probably your best bet for a power shift.

Funnily enough im looking for a power shift focus for a relative at the moment, nothing really for sale here.

swapped it with the piece from the wife's fiesta and its solved the issue. so once the stainless one arrives its problem solved.
