    Evening all.

Arrived to my relatives' this evening to find them doing a bit of DIY. They're replacing two ceiling rose light fitting with a new, double insulated light fittings. Anyway, long story short, despite my protests, he "won't be paying someone to connect a few shagging wires". I know, I know....

But for my own pace of mind at least and as we've gotten him to hold off until tomorrow, can anyone confirm that what he's trying to do is right? The current ceiling rose is in the attached picture. Basically the ceiling rose has the usual block of connectors (see pic)

-One marked Live with 2 'blocks' which has two Live wires (I presume the doubles are some sort of loop or switch) both connected into one block and one Live going from the other Live block down into the current light fitting.
-One marked Loop which has 3 blocks, none of which are occupied.
-One marked Neutral which has two Neutral wires connected into one Neutral block and one Neutral wire going from the other Neutral block down into the current light fitting.
-One earth connector, with three Earths connected into it.

The new fittings are double insulated (see the attached pics Light Fitting 1 and Light Fitting 2). Light Fitting 1 has one connector each for Live and Neutral. Light fitting 2 has two connectors each for Live and Neutral.

So what he has suggested he's going to do is first putting the Earths in a block connector and popping it into the roof. After that he says he's just going to connect both of the Live wires into the same Live terminal on the new fitting (and do the exact same with the Neutral). There is obviously already one Live and Neutral leaving the respective connectors on the new light fittings so those won't need to be replaced or replicated, he presumes.

Is this correct? Or is going to blow himself and half of Blarney to kingdom come?

    Cheers in advance.

First thing he should do is turn the power off ;) Then check its off.

The rest is correct. Make sure to get the full wire into each connection / block or trim to suit leaving none or little exposed. (dont be sloppy) .. I mean tell 'him' not to be sloppy :)
