Is it worth getting Certified as Data Protection Officer.

I was discussing this with someone the other night and he said that it is great to have on the C.V,I done some research and doesnt seem to bad to get the cert,its one day for the basic and then 3 days for the ICS Certified Data Protection Officer Certificate.It is pricey for the latter one but if its worth it then I would consider doing it.
I am a recent graduate but not had any luck with jobs would having this on my C.V be any benefit or should I concentrate on the MSCE certs?

I had never heard of this organisation before. I would clarify what approval they have, if any, from the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner before embarking on a course.

They say "Membership is open to anyone who fills a data management role within their organisation, whether formally or informally" which is casting the net pretty wide.

I would think with the GDPR Regulations coming in shortly that data protection roles will open up particularly in large companies. Is your main qualification/degree something that would compliment a data protection qualification?

I would do a bit more digging to see which course is better before handing over any money.

There’s going to be a big demand for data privacy experience, given the forthcoming introduction of GDPR. If you are thinking of it, I’d research for well recognised providers / certifications. And then get some experience!

Honors degree in IT,done a small bit in college,just thinking this might look good on the C.V shortly with the new regulations.
