I have an 2012 Nissan Quashqui with 33k it is a UK high spec and in mint condition. I have been offered 10,200k for it from a dealer and don't know what to do. I lost my husband recently and need to sell the car but don't know if I am being taken advantage of and I am worried about trying to sell it myself as the insurance has been cancelled. Any advice would be appreciated.

A dealer will need to make money when they’re selling it, so there’s always the trade off between convenience of not having to deal with test drivers, payment etc etc. You will often get more privately.
I’m sure you’ve a lot to deal with so selling to a dealer will be a lot less stressful.

Is this car petrol or diesel?

Similar cars with similar mileage shows dealers selling them for 14/15000 so what you are offered seems pretty standard, as dealer will make a few grand selling it on.

Have a look on www.carzone.ie for 2012 Nissan Qashqai's with similar mileage and spec. That'll give you an idea of what they're selling for.

Also, buying and selling cars is all about shopping around. Try four or five more dealers to see if you can get a better price. Don't be afraid to push them on the price or tell them you've been offered more elsewhere to see if they'll up their offer.

    Sorry for your loss.

Would you be willing to try sell it on carzone and donedeal yourself or any other member of the family that could help you out.

If someone else could help insurance for driving may not be an issue if their own insurance policy allows driving of other cars once not owned by themselves.

Dealer is no matter what going to give you as little as possible to get as much profit as possible.

Thanks, if someone comes to buy it and they have insurance can they test drive it?

Yes but you would need to be sure and see the policy.

Once the car has nct if applicable and isn't owned by them they will be covered once policy states so.

    OP, sorry for your loss.

I'm not sure how easy is to sell a 10k+ car as a private seller. I guess most people will not spent that amount for a car that is being sold as it is, with no warranty or comeback whatsoever.
If you're looking to trade it in for something else, this is where you may get the most value out of it.

Just remember that dealer asking prices and dealer selling prices are too different things and not directly reflective of what they would need to buy your car for. They got to put a warranty on the car, service it and valet it, plus make a profit on it before selling to a new customer. They will also offer a discount off their asking price if someone buys it with no trade-in. So in order for all that they need to buy the car a good bit cheaper than what they will ask in return for it.

That can be the case but if she were to advertise correctly with maximum photos and description and priced right it would be a good buy.

If doing the ad place in service history, spec, of course the low mileage, owners and receipts if any.

Suggest a mechanic or even be happy if they want it checked over by a dealer/garage.

I don't drive so won't be trading it in.

Put it through a busy car auction such as Merlin. Get a new nct and set a reserve of say 12k. If hammer falls at 11k they will contact you to see if you will let it go at that price
