COURSE IS HILLY BUT NET DOWNHILL. SUPPORT IS AMAZING!
Stay down-town and get the school buses out to the start (its part of the experience).
WEATHER CAN BE CHANGEABLE. GIVEN THE POINT TO POINT NATURE OF THE RACE WIND DIRECTION CAN HAVE A SIZABLE IMPACT ON YOUR RACE TIME.

Staying in downtown Boston is really, really expensive. Did you get in via the Boston qualifier or or you going to buy a place from somewhere likes Sports Travel International (which typically includes a hotel stay)? A hotel downtown can cost between €200-€300 per night. If you don't mind a house/apartment share, you can pay drastically less on AirBNB (own room in someone else's house).

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on Rome. I'm looking for a spring marathon next year. Have already done London, Paris and Rotterdam. Would like to try somewhere new again and only just saw Rome mentioned here - https://www.google.ie/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/ceciliarodriguez/2017/04/13/12-european-marathons-worth-the-trip/amp/

Not a lot of detail in the Article but yes definitely one to do.
The last five miles or so are ran back in the city and past all the main attractions which is amazing. The outskirts of run are truly forgettable so the last few miles on cobbles make it interesting but hard.Weather nice if a tad warm.
Beware the starting pens not much room to maneouvre around the colesseum
An amazing start and finish point ..only hill on the course

    Hey yheno,

A quick search of boards threw up the above. There are a couple of us contemplating Florence but we are a little concerned after reading posts re the cobbled section(s). What are they like? What would you describe them as? I’ve read a couple of race reports that say there tough but wondering what they would compare to!

Alos would you recommend it as a PB course?

    Cheers

    JD

Did Florence in 2018 - it absolutely lashed rain for pretty much the entire thing. Wet cobbles aren't the best for running on but TBH the rain was so bad I don't recall being overly concerned about the surface I was running on. If I remember correctly they're less like small lumpy cobbles and more like larger wider stones - not Temple Bar cobbles. I could be misremembering though, that whole marathon was a bit of a nightmare for me.
