Meh, liked them at first but now they're just an expensive ornament hanging in the back off the press. It's hard to explain how strange they feel and although I found them responsive at first, I couldn't shake the feeling of running on a sponge with absolutely no feel for the ground. This is coming from someone who has often thought about taking the needles off my spikes and using them for road running so a bit biased on what I like. Did they make me faster? probably not as I feel I get better pop off my other shoes(might be different if I was running sub-5 miles for an extended period). Did they improve my recovery? I think so on this one as my calves felt better after long runs but the sensation just wasn't right for me

As for the article, many reasons why the study was misguided. People who spend $250 on a pair of shoes are going to be running mad and detailed orientated, in other word, hugely prepared. The other and even bigger flaw is that nearly half the shoes in the study were misidentified Zoom Flys which are nearly half the price so a bit of a bust all round.

Study funded by Nike. Two of the researchers look like Nike employees. That does not necessarily undermine the findings, but worth bearing in mind. I’ll wait for an independent study myself.

My Friday morning run came in about 4% quicker than the week before, after which I checked the price to discover I’d ordered the Nike Zoom Fly, the cheaper version of the shoe which comes without the 4% advantage. And that’s no lie.

I haven't heard a thing but since we are talking about Nike here I very confidently predict that the shoes will always be regarded as perfectly legal, no matter what.

The authorities in question don't bite the hand that feeds them.

I listened to some podcast a few months back where they said Nike would just love it if they were declared illegal assistance as then sales would go through the roof!
